A 35-year-old woman, Nafisat Raji, was on Wednesday sentenced to six months imprisonment for stealing a HP laptop valued N45,000.
The prosecutor, Insp. Oladoye Joshua, told the court that the convict committed the offense on August 8, at about 12:30PM on Fayemi street, in Osogbo.
Joshua said the convict stole the laptop belonging to one Akindele Deborah and a mobile phone owned by one Olabopo Mubarak.
He said the offence contravened Sections 390(9) and is punishable under Section 383 and 412 of the Criminal Code cap 34 vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The convict pleaded guilty to the offence and her counsel, Mr Najite Okobie, prayed the Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing the convict.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Olowolagba, who sentenced Raji, however, gave her the option to pay a fine of N3, 000.
