Osun Pensioners Demand Public Display Of LG Finances

Osun pensioners challenged the state government to make public, the financial position of the local government in the state.

The local government pensioners, while addressing journalists in osogbo, the state capital accused the state government of tampering with the statutory allocations of local government in the state, contrary to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

the local government pensioners through their spokesperson for the forum, Lanre Fadahunsi, alleged that with the monthly allocations try o local government in the state, workers and pensioners have no reason to be collecting half salaries but for constant dipping into its fund to augment the already depleted purse of the state.

“By February of 2016, total allocation to osun state was #2.422billion leaving just only #6.23million after deduction of the various debts of the state.”

“The 30 LGAs in the state constantly receive well over 2billion naira in all in instances but the core values and traits of the local government system has been eroded.”

The forum of Local Government Retiree also accused banks involved in the payment of pensions of abnormally making life difficult for the pensioners in the state therefore calling on the bureau of local government administration to facilitate the payment of the full one year arrears of pension of owed them.
